Occasions For Sending Thank You Cards

There is no wrong time to send a thank you card- people like to be appreciated for any gesture, big or small (in fact, they may appreciate the thank you more if it’s for something small!). There are a multitude of occasions that always require a proper thank you card. You should always send a thank you note when someone attends a party or celebration in your honor and/or gives you a gift for the occasion. These occasions include:

• Baby shower
• Graduation
• Holidays

It’s also appropriate and shows good etiquette to send someone a thank you card when someone has gone out of their way for you or done you a favor. This could include any of the following:

• When a professional or someone you’ve hired (e.g. hair stylist, teacher, dog sitter, etc.) does a fabulous job

Things To Write In Thank You Cards

A thank you card doesn’t need to be long or time consuming to write. As long as your message is sincere and expresses your heartfelt gratitude, your recipient will appreciate the effort you’ve put in. Address your recipient appropriately for your relationship (i.e. keep it professional if it’s work related, and try to be warm and friendly if it’s a friend or family member), and use that to set the tone for your note. If you’re writing a thank you card for a gift, make sure you specifically say thank you for the gift and say how you plan to use the gift. If you’re saying thank you for a favor, tell them what their gesture meant to you. Close your note with a warm thought, or tell them you’re looking forward to the next thing you will do together.
